The 2026–2027 school year marks an exciting new chapter as Mr. Kretschy begins his first year as Principal of Somerdale Park School after serving the past three years as Vice Principal. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in strengthening the school's culture by prioritizing positive student behavior, improving student attendance, and helping drive continued growth in academic achievement and state assessment performance.
Mr. Kretschy is committed to fostering a positive, student-centered learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their fullest potential both academically and socially. He has built meaningful relationships with students, staff, families, and the Somerdale community through his visible leadership, collaborative approach, and genuine investment in the success of others. As Principal, he looks forward to continuing to build upon the strong foundation established at Somerdale Park School while leading the school toward continued excellence.
With degrees in Business Management and Elementary Education, along with his unique experience as a former professional athlete, Mr. Kretschy brings a well-rounded perspective to educational leadership that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, perseverance, and high expectations. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, and their four children, and can most often be found cheering them on from the sidelines at one of their many sporting events.
