A Greeting from the Superintendent…

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope you had a relaxing summer. I am looking forward to working with you and your child(ren) again this year. At Somerdale Park School we are committed to providing your child(ren) with rich learning experiences. I personally believe in, and take pride in always doing what is best for students. I will continue to use this guiding principle when making decisions about our school.

Over the summer the administrative team, IT department and Buildings and Grounds department have been working hard to make Somerdale Park School a safe and positive learning environment. I am pleased with the progress of our summer projects:

  • Summer cleaning
  • Pavement repairs were completed
  • Summer Days in Somerdale and ESY Summer programs were a huge hit this summer.
  • Preparation for the Before and After School Care program
    • The registration portal will open August 17th. You may find this on our school website.
    • The Before and After School Care Program will begin on September 7th

On August 12th, the Somerdale School District’s Board of Education approved the Road Forward Plan for the 2021-2022 school year. The adopted plan, developed in consultation with the Somerdale School District BOE, CDC, Camden County Health Department, and the NJ Department of Education is a fluid document that will take into consideration emerging guidance and recommendations from state and local officials, and utilize current data surrounding the trajectory of the virus at the local level to inform subsequent decisions. To ensure the effectiveness of the plan, it will be an agenda item at each Board of Education meeting during the 2021-2022 school year, so the board can revisit and revise the plan, based upon the guidance of local and state health officials.

When students return to school on September 7, 2021, our school will offer in-person instruction, five days per week. Our students will follow our normal Bell Schedule, and all teachers will be in-person and in our classrooms.

Additional points for families to know as we continue to plan for the start of the 2021-2022 school year are as follows:

  •  Masking will be mandatory for students and staff, regardless of their vaccination status when we return to school on September 7, 2021.
  •  Proof of a COVID-19 vaccination will not be required of students or employees, but is helpful in the event of a COVID-19 breakout.
  •  Distancing of at least three feet or more will be maintained wherever possible.

We are excited to welcome back our students and staff this fall. While the past year and a half has been challenging, we remain optimistic about the coming year and the many opportunities awaiting our students.  May you continue to enjoy the remaining weeks of summer, and please be on the lookout for upcoming communications from the district. Please feel free to contact me at 856-783-6261, by email [email protected] and follow our Twitter page @SomerdalePark and Facebook page @SPSGoCavs.

And As Always…Go Cavs.
