Opportunities in the Music Department

General Music Classes

  • Provided to Grades K-8 with emphasis on rhythmic and melodic music literacy and exposure to major styles, composers and eras of music.
  • Performance Ensembles - many students both sing and play an instrument!

Vocal

  • Gold Clefs (6th, 7th, and 8th Grade by try-out only). Rehearsal - one period per week
  • Middle School Choir (6th through 8th Grade). Rehearsal - one period per week
  • Elementary School Choirs (3rd through 5th Grade). Rehearsal - one period per week
  • Vocal Sectionals - one period per week on a rotating schedule
  • Performance Requirements: Two evening Music Concerts per school year
  • Evening Concert - mandatory participation required by all ensemble members
  • Dress Rehearsal - mandatory participation the day of the performance

Instrumental

  • Concert Band - Rehearsal - one period per week
  • Beginning Band - Rehearsal - one period per week
  • Instrument Lessons - one period per week on a rotating schedule
  • Jazz Band - Rehearsal - after school one day a week
  • Performance Requirements: Two evening Music Concerts per school year
  • Evening Concert - mandatory participation required by all ensemble members
  • Dress Rehearsal - mandatory participation the day of the performance
