Art Curator & Art Club

Art Club

The mission of the Art Club is to give students in Somerdale Park School the opportunity to express themselves artistically, work with different mediums and socialize with their peers. They will work on several projects that incorporate multiple mediums. Completed work will be displayed throughout our school and in our annual Art Show.  We will work with administration, teachers and other extracurricular clubs to facilitate art needs and requests throughout the year. There will be a field trip to a museum and/or art exhibit in the spring, more info will be sent home about this later in the year.

Art Club is open to all students in grades 6-8.

Curators Club

Grades 6-8

Our mission is to create an exciting Art Show featuring art created by our students in grades K-8.
Utilizing the Principles of Design; unity, contrast, pattern, balance, rhythm, emphasis and movement students will create an amazing end of year Art Show at Somerdale Park School for all to enjoy.

Displaying artwork in a space requires a cohesive composition and the entire space becomes a “canvas.” Club members will work together to select the art work from grades K-8. We will organize, label, prepare and mount student art. Students will determine how the work will be displayed on walls, tables and boards. They will also determine how the work is grouped and the order it is displayed within the spaces.

This is an opportunity to learn about the exhibition of art work. Exhibition is the final stage in the art process and it allows our work to be shared and enjoyed with others.  In this club, you will collaborate with peers while working toward a common goal, build friendships, socialize and have fun!

We will meet on Thursday, from January – May.
