Families of students in grades PreK-3, please take the following survey so that we can best meet the needs of our community.

Tri County Pest Control is scheduled to come out and treat for termites around A-wing. This is going to happen April 15th 2022. No one will be in the Building; No exceptions, only Maintenance and the pest control people.

The Sterling Regional Board of Education, according to Statute 18A:12-15-Filling Vacancies; will be accepting letters of interest to fill a board member vacancy from the Somerdale Borough.

Read Across America is the largest reading activity which has taken place on March 2nd since 1988. Schools carve out some class time to enjoy favorite books as well as new titles. This year the Somerdale Park School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is conducting a Book Scavenger Hunt as one way to celebrate reading.

I hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well during this difficult time. As you are aware, from my previous letter to you on January 7, 2022, Somerdale Park School will begin remote instruction on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Notice is hereby given by the Somerdale Board of Education that the January 6, 2022 (Reorganization) meeting will be a virtual meeting. Also, there will be an additional (Regular) meeting on January 20, 2022.

One of our very own Cavalier Staff, Robert Shaw, has been selected to the USA Special Olympics Softball Team! Please check out this link for Robert’s bio and to donate to support him on his trip to Orlando this coming June. Congratulations to Robert for his hard work and accomplishments!

A letter from Mr. Pease, School Superintendent regarding recent concerns with transportation for sporting events.

Somerdale Park School is proud to announce the teacher of the year for 2021-2022: Ms. Lauren Baldyga. Congratulations Ms. Baldyga!

Who: Middle school students (6th, 7th, 8th grade) in the Sterling sending district. What: Middle School Wrestling. When: Practices will begin November 23, 2021. An updated sports physical is required prior to starting practice. Where: Practices are held at Sterlin High School. Matches are at various locations.

From Nov. 1st to Nov. 30th, Somerdale Park School will be accepting donations for veterans in the cafeteria. Please see the flyer or contact Ms. Siderio for more information. [email protected]

Somerdale Park School is seeking qualified applicants for paraprofessionals. Paraprofessional staffing is done through ESS. Contact Barbara Larr at [email protected] for additional details.

During the Summer, students had the opportunity to participate in the Game 7 Character Builders Summer Camp.

Sterling Middle School Cross Country is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Practices on weekdays at 3:30 at the high school track. Conference races on Tuesday starting September 26th.

Somerdale Park School is participating in the state-wide assessment called NJ Start Strong. Start Strong is administered to grades 4-8 and will be taken in September of 2021. Students in grades 3-8 will also participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments in the spring of 2022.

Community Service Club meetings are Wednesdays from 3:15 - 4:15 PM. See Ms. Siderio or email [email protected] for more info. Students from 5th - 8th grade are eligible to join.

On September 10th, 2021, students and staff of Somerdale Park School stood outside to pay tribute to local first responders and remember all those who were affected by September 11th.

The Somerdale Board of Education is accepting applications to fill a vacant position. The remaining term expires December 31, 2022. If interested please submit a letter of interest and resume to Mr. David Rouse.

The USDA is providing free meals for all students this year! We are looking forward to seeing students all back in the building & hope the 2021-22 school year is an exciting time for the students! We are still living in a time of uncertainty where situations are subject to change but here are some of the current details regarding the food service program.
